The Od Yosef Chai Yeshiva was founded in 5742 (1982) by Romem Aldubi and his acquaintances at Joseph’s Tomb in Shechem (Nablus). For a period of twenty years, the yeshivah was the only Jewish landmark in Shechem, and it continued to function as such even during challenging times. Since the IDF’s withdrawal from the Tomb at the beginning of 5761 (2000), forsaking the sacred location and leaving it in the hands of Palestinian terror advocates, the yeshivah has relocated to Yitzhar. It continues to grow and develop in its new abode.
Rabbi Yitzchak Ginsburgh is the spiritual spearhead of the yeshivah, renowned for teaching Kabbalah and Chassidut in Israel and overseas. He has also published many books on the inner dimension of the Torah. In his spoken and written teachings, Rabbi Ginsburgh connects the revealed and hidden dimensions of the Torah, Torah and science, the individual and the collective, in active anticipation of the redemption.
The Rosh Yeshivah of Od Yosef Chai is Rabbi Yitzchak Shapira, working together with a devoted team of teaching rabbis. Under the leadership of these figureheads, the yeshivah has developed into an educational institution that teaches Torah and awe of God to dozens of young and married men, who study Torah and serve God constantly, preparing themselves to be faithful sons of the Jewish People and incessantly disseminating more and more Torah. Side by side with the higher yeshivah, which is intended for young men from the age of seventeen years old and upward and for married men, there is also the yeshivah ketanah by the name of Dorshei Yichudecha, which is intended for young boys from the age of bar-mitzvah.
Graduates of the yeshivah are spread all over the country. Thank God, they are Torah loving, God-fearing men, many of whom are active in their communities and on the public scale on behalf of the Torah of Israel, the Nation of Israel and the Land of Israel.
